Why people choose this generator

Dual Fuel Flexibility: One-click switching between gasoline and propane. Propane stores indefinitely, burns cleaner, and keeps you running when gas stations are down after a storm.
Plug-and-Play Comfort: Remote start, electric start, wheels, and a telescopic handle mean less hassle — start it from inside the house before you walk out.
Safe for High-End Tech: Pure sine wave inverter output with <3% THD delivers the clean power required for sensitive laptops, cell phones, Starlink routers, CPAP machines, and TVs.
Real Backup & RV Power: 120/240V output plus a dedicated 30A RV outlet gives you enough muscle for home essentials (fridge, freezer, sump pump) and 30A RV setups — with runtime up to 13.5 hours on propane.

Good to know before you buy

Why dual fuel matters

Gasoline goes stale in months; propane stores for years and doesn't gum up a carburetor. In an extended outage, gas stations may have no power to pump — but a couple of 20 lb propane tanks in the garage keep you running. One-click switching means you use whichever fuel makes sense that day.

Not sure if it fits your RV, transfer switch, or backup plan? Call 314-833-8000 and we'll walk through your setup before you buy.
What 120/240V output actually means

The MXR6900DER gives you both 120V and 240V output via a dedicated selector switch, which matters for transfer switch use, heavier appliance planning, and more flexible backup setups. Many inverter generators only provide 120V. This one gives buyers more real-world options.

How loud is 62 dB?

Around 62 dB at 23 feet is much easier to live with than the harsher noise most buyers expect from open-frame generators — about the level of normal conversation. That matters for RV trips, home backup, and neighborhood-friendly use.

Runtime explained

Up to 10 hours on gasoline / 13.5 hours on propane at 25% load is closer to lighter essential use like refrigerator, lights, router, chargers, and selective electronics.

Up to 6.7 hours on gasoline / 8 hours on propane at 50% load is closer to heavier real-world use, where more appliances or tools are running at the same time. Propane runtime depends on tank size — the figures above reflect a standard 20 lb tank.

Let’s talk about MXR - MaXpeedingrods +
The MXR Story

MXR (MaXpeedingrods) has been building high-performance engine parts since 2006 — connecting rods, crankshafts, turbochargers, and racing components. Generators came later, and that background shows in how they're built.

The MXR6900DER uses OEM-grade components throughout — not sourced-cheap aftermarket parts. The inverter electronics are designed for clean pure sine wave power, the dual-fuel system switches with one click, and the remote start is built in from the factory, not bolted on as an afterthought.

The 224cc 4-stroke OHV engine traces its roots to go-kart and small engine performance applications — a lineage that prioritizes reliability under sustained load, not just peak numbers on a spec sheet.

Most budget generators are designed around a price point. This one was designed around what the engine and alternator could actually do.

A generator does not need to run everything at once. Smart load management means staggering bigger loads like microwaves and air conditioners so the generator stays in its comfort zone. Remember running watts drop on propane (4500W) vs gasoline (5200W). Wattage figures are typical estimates — always verify your specific appliance requirements before connecting.

Common questions about the MXR6900DER

Support, Maintenance & Included Accessories
If I don't want to read the FAQs, can I just call you instead?

Yes, anytime. Call or text 314-833-8000 or email sales@durvy.com. We provide real support directly from our Union, MO location.

What's in the box?

MXR6900DER Dual Fuel Inverter Generator, Owner's Manual, Spark Plug Socket Wrench, Oil Funnel, Screwdriver, Pressure Relief Valve Kit, Battery Charger (for the starter battery), and Remote Control.

What is the recommended maintenance schedule?

Check engine oil, fresh gas, and air filter every use. Change oil after the first 20 hours, then every 50 hours. Check, clean, or adjust the spark plug yearly. Bonus of running propane: cleaner burn means less carbon buildup and longer intervals between deep maintenance.

What type of oil and gas does it need?

Oil: Plain SAE 10W-30. Capacity is 0.74 qt (700 mL). Gas: 87 octane with less than 10% ethanol. Do not use E85 or E15. Propane: standard LPG tanks.

What should I know about the starter battery?

Connect the battery cable through the side panel before first startup. Always turn off the main power switch after use — a drained battery will prevent electric start. Storing over a month? Disconnect the battery cable. Run the generator at least 30 minutes every 3 months. If the battery dies anyway, the external emergency start port lets you jump it from an outside power source with one click.

How should I prep the generator for storage?

Drain the gas. Pro tip: run the generator on propane for the last stretch or turn the gas switch OFF and let it burn the remaining fuel out of the lines. Disconnect the starter battery cable for storage over a month.

Dual Fuel & RV Power
How does switching between gas and propane work?

One-click switching — no tools, no draining. Run gas when it's convenient, propane when you want longer storage life, cleaner burn, or lower maintenance.

Will the MXR6900DER run a 30 amp RV?

Yes. A 30 amp RV typically requires up to 3,600 watts at 120V. With 5,200 running watts on gasoline (4,500 on propane), the MXR6900DER provides sufficient capacity for most 30 amp RV setups, including one RV rooftop air conditioner and standard appliances. It has a dedicated 120V 30A RV outlet — plug your RV cord straight in. Always confirm your specific load requirements before connecting.

Can it run an RV air conditioner?

In many setups, yes. It is a practical fit for 30A RVs. For best results, turn off Eco Mode before starting the AC compressor, and remember running watts are lower on propane.

Should I leave Eco Mode on when starting my RV air conditioner?

No. Turn Eco Mode OFF before starting heavy loads so the engine is at full RPM for the initial surge. Turn it back on once the compressor is running.

Why is my RV surge protector or EMS showing an open ground fault?

Portable generators have a floating neutral. Many RV EMS systems require a bonded neutral. Resolve this by using a standard neutral-ground bonding plug in one of the 20A outlets.

What gauge extension cord should I use for my RV?

Use a minimum 10-gauge heavy-duty cord for 30A service to prevent voltage drop and overheating.

Can I connect two of these generators together?

Yes, the MXR6900DER is parallel ready. Parallel cables are sold separately — call us if you're planning a parallel setup.

Home Backup Planning
Is 5200 running watts enough for home backup?

For many homes, it is enough for essentials like a refrigerator, freezer, lights, internet, chargers, and selective appliance use. It is not the same as full whole-house backup.

Why does dual fuel matter for storm backup?

In an extended outage, gas stations may not be able to pump. Propane stores for years without going stale — a few 20 lb tanks on hand means you're covered, and you get up to 13.5 hours per tank at 25% load.

Can it run a well pump?

Some well pumps, yes, but startup load varies a lot. Call us at 314-833-8000 before buying so we can help size the load.

Can I connect this generator directly to my home breaker box?

You must use a properly installed manual transfer switch. The 120/240V output makes it compatible with many standard transfer switches. Call us at 314-833-8000 and we're happy to review compatibility before you buy.

Will it run a central air conditioner?

Typically, no. A 5200 running watt generator is not designed for whole-house central HVAC systems. It is better suited for window units, portable ACs, or small mini-splits.

Does this unit have carbon monoxide safety features?

Yes. It includes a CO sensor and will automatically shut down if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Never run any generator indoors or in an enclosed space.

Performance & Electronics
What is THD <3% and why does it matter?

Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) under 3% is the gold standard for clean power. It protects sensitive circuit boards in laptops, Starlink, and medical gear from electrical noise.

Is this safe for a mobile office (Starlink, Laptops, iPads)?

Yes. The pure sine wave output safely powers Starlink dishes, laptops, iPads, and dual-monitor setups without flickering or signal interference.

Is it safe for medical devices like a CPAP machine?

Yes. The stable <3% THD power is preferred for the sensitive motors and sensors in CPAP and BiPAP machines to ensure correct operation.

How loud is the MXR6900DER?

62 dB at 23 feet at 25% load — about the level of normal conversation, and far easier to live with than open-frame generators.

How long will it run on one tank?

Gasoline: up to 10 hours at 25% load, 6.7 hours at 50%. Propane: up to 13.5 hours at 25% load, 8 hours at 50%.

Does it work at high altitude or in extreme temperatures?

Rated for altitudes below 5,000 ft. Normal operating range is 5°F to 104°F — below 5°F starting gets harder, above 104°F output decreases.

What happens if I overload it?

The overload LED will activate and the unit will cut power to protect itself and your gear. Simply reduce the load and reset.
