What can a 5000 watt inverter generator run
A 5000 running watt inverter generator like the MXR6250IE can handle most home backup scenarios simultaneously: refrigerator, freezer, sump pump, window AC unit, lights, internet, and a few devices at once. On a job site, it runs multiple power tools in rotation. For RV use, it comfortably supports a 30A RV connection with AC, microwave, and other systems running.
What the 120V/240V dual voltage outlet means for you
The MXR6250IE includes a dedicated 120V/240V dual-voltage outlet that can directly power 240V appliances — including transfer switches, well pumps, and some RV 50A hookups (with appropriate adapter). This is not just a 120V generator. That outlet expands what this machine can do significantly compared to 120V-only inverter generators at similar price points.
What the CO auto-shutdown does
The MXR6250IE includes a built-in CO sensor. If carbon monoxide accumulates to dangerous levels near the generator, it automatically shuts the engine off. This is a meaningful safety feature — but it does not replace running the generator outdoors and away from windows, doors, and vents. Always use outside in well-ventilated areas, never in a garage or enclosed space.
Runtime explained
Up to 9.5 hours at 25% load is closer to lighter essential use — refrigerator, lights, router, chargers, and selective electronics running in Eco mode.
Fuel consumption increases significantly at higher loads. Running multiple high-draw appliances simultaneously will reduce runtime well below the rated estimate. Always size your actual load, not just the generator's peak rating.
What the MXR6250IE can run
5000 running watts / 5500 peak watts. Startup watts draw higher current for 1–2 seconds when a motor starts. Plan around running watts for sustained use.

Let’s talk about MXR +
MXR is produced by MaXpeedingrods, an engineering company founded in 2006 that builds performance and power equipment for real-world use. Operating under IATF 16949 quality management systems — the same standard used by automotive manufacturers — MaXpeedingrods has served over 4 million customers worldwide.
The MXR6250IE was engineered to achieve a 25% weight reduction over the previous generation by using a copper-wound stator instead of aluminum. The result is a generator delivering 5000 running watts at just 86 lb — the lightest in its US power class at release. Copper windings mean lower resistance, better heat efficiency, and longer motor life.
The 120V/240V dual-voltage outlet is a significant differentiator at this price point — allowing direct connection to well pumps, transfer switches, and 240V tools without an additional adapter. Parallel capability lets two units link for up to 10,000W of combined output.
MXR generators carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty with free lifetime technical support. Durvy Supply provides direct support from Union, Missouri. Call or email us any time before or after your purchase.
