The MXR engine story

The MXR pedigree: built by an engine-focused brand

MaXpeedingrods built its name around engine parts and performance hardware, not around generic store-brand appliances. That matters because buyers are not just shopping for wattage. They are shopping for whether the machine feels engineered, maintainable, and worth owning long term.

The MXR6000GT combines a 224cc OHV engine, inverter-style power delivery, remote-start convenience, and a cleaner feature set than many buyers expect from a mid-sized portable generator.

Why it feels different

Not just another off-brand generator listing

Most generator pages online sound the same: a watt number, a price, and a pile of disconnected specs. This page is built differently. It explains what the machine is good at, who it is for, and where it fits in the real world.

That combination helps buyers trust the machine and trust the seller.

Why buy from Durvy Supply

RV Power & Compatibility
Can a 6000 watt inverter generator run an RV air conditioner?
In many setups, yes. The exact answer depends on startup draw, what else is running, and whether a soft start is installed. The MXR6000GT is also a practical fit for many 30A RV setups.
Does this generator work for 30A and 50A RV setups?
Yes for many 30A RV applications with the proper adapter and load awareness. It can also be used in 50A RV situations, but not as a run-everything-at-once pedestal replacement.
Do I need a special adapter to plug in my 50 Amp RV?
No. The MXR6000GT includes a standard 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle, allowing you to plug a standard 50 amp RV cord directly into the generator.
Why is my RV’s internal GFCI outlet tripping when I plug in?
This often happens because of a "Neutral-to-Ground" conflict between the generator and the RV’s panel. Using a neutral-ground bonding plug in one of the 20A outlets usually clears this error.
What gauge extension cord should I use for my RV?
If you aren't plugging your main RV cord directly into the 50A outlet, use a minimum 10-gauge heavy-duty cord for 30A service. For 50A, stay with the factory RV cord to prevent voltage drop and overheating.
Is this generator "National Park Legal"?
Yes. It is equipped with a spark arrestor and operates at approximately 60 dB, which meets the noise and safety requirements for most National Forest and National Park campgrounds.
Can I leave the generator in the rain while camping?
No. Moisture can damage the inverter and control panel. Use a "running cover" or a generator tent that allows for proper airflow and exhaust while keeping the unit dry.
Why is my generator's starter battery dead after sitting for a week?
The Bluetooth module and remote start system have a small "phantom draw" on the battery. If storing for more than a few days, use the battery disconnect or the included charger to keep it topped off.
Can I store the generator in my RV's "basement" or storage bay?
Only if it is completely drained of fuel. Gasoline fumes are heavy and can seep into the living area of the RV. Never run the generator inside any enclosed storage compartment.
Can I run this in my truck bed while towing?
Yes, provided there is 360-degree ventilation and the exhaust is pointed away from the truck cab and RV. Ensure it is securely strapped down to prevent tipping during turns or braking.
Do I need to drive a grounding rod into the earth?
For standard RV use, a grounding rod is typically not required by the NEC. The generator frame acts as the equipment ground. However, always follow your specific local or campground regulations.
Why does the engine struggle to start in cold weather?
Cold oil is thicker and harder to move. Ensure you are using SAE 10W-30 oil and fresh gasoline. In very cold temps, give the machine 2-3 minutes to warm up before switching off the choke or adding a load.
Will this run my RV's electric fireplace or heat pump?
Yes, but these are high-draw items (usually 1500W+). You will likely need to turn off the air conditioner or water heater to run the fireplace without overloading the generator.
Why is my RV surge protector or EMS showing an "open ground" fault?
Portable generators typically have a floating neutral. Use a neutral-ground bonding plug in a 20A outlet to resolve this.
Should I leave Eco Mode on when starting my RV air conditioner?
No. Turn Eco Mode OFF so the engine is at full RPM for the initial surge. Turn it back on once the AC compressor is running.
Will altitude affect my ability to run my AC?
Yes. Expect a 3.5% drop in power for every 1,000 feet of elevation. You will have less total wattage available at high altitudes.
Why is there a delay before my RV gets power?
Most RV transfer switches have a built-in 15-30 second delay to let the generator's voltage stabilize before connecting the load.
Can I connect two MXR6000GT generators together?
Yes. Use the included parallel cables to double your wattage for heavy loads.
Will this charge my RV's deep cycle batteries?
Yes, via your RV's onboard converter or the included 12V DC charger.
Home Backup Planning
Is a 5000 running watt generator enough for home backup?
For many homes, it is enough for essentials like a refrigerator, freezer, lights, internet, chargers, and selective appliance use. It is not the same as full whole-house backup.
Can it run a well pump?
Some well pumps, yes, but startup load varies a lot. This is one of the best reasons to call before buying.
Can I connect this generator directly to my home breaker box?
You must use a properly installed manual transfer switch. The 120/240V split-phase output makes it compatible with most standard transfer switches for seamless home backup.
Will the MXR6000GT run a central air conditioner?
Typically, no. A 5000 running watt generator is not designed for whole-house central HVAC systems. It is better suited for window units, portable ACs, or small mini-splits.
Does this unit have carbon monoxide safety features?
Yes. It includes CO safety monitoring and will automatically shut down if dangerous levels of carbon monoxide are detected.
Performance & Electronics
Pound for Pound Leadership: At only 99 lbs, the MXR6000GT is one of the lightest 6000W generators available. This is achieved through rigorous engineering by the MXR performance team, combining a high-output engine with "turbocharged" inverter technology for maximum power-to-weight efficiency.
What is THD < 3% and why does it matter?
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) measures how "clean" the electricity is. A rating of under 3% is the gold standard for generators. In simple terms, this means the power is as stable and smooth as what you get from a wall outlet at home, preventing the electrical "noise" that can fry sensitive circuit boards.
Is this safe for a mobile office (Starlink, Laptops, iPads)?
Yes. The pure sine wave output is specifically designed for high-end tech. It safely powers Starlink dishes, MacBook Pro/PC laptops, iPads, and dual-monitor setups without the screen flickering or power supply humming common with cheaper generators.
Can I charge small accessories like EarPods or Smartwatches?
Yes. You can use the built-in USB ports or standard 20A outlets. The inverter regulates the flow so even tiny batteries in EarPods or Apple Watches charge safely.
Is the MXR6000GT safe for medical devices like a CPAP machine?
Yes. Because of the < 3% THD, it provides the stable, clean voltage required by CPAP and BiPAP machines. It ensures the sensitive sensors in medical equipment operate correctly throughout the night.
Can I run a laser printer or high-end plotter?
Yes. Laser printers have a high temporary "heat-up" draw, and the 6000W peak capacity handles that initial surge easily while the inverter keeps the voltage steady for the printer's logic board.
Is it safe for professional camera gear and LED production lights?
Yes. Film and photography gear requires extremely stable power to avoid "flicker" in lighting or data corruption during battery charging. This unit is a favorite for remote production sets.
Should I unplug my electronics before starting or stopping the engine?
As a best practice, yes. While the inverter has protective circuitry, the safest way to treat high-end gadgets is to let the generator reach a stable RPM before plugging them in, and unplugging them before hitting the stop button.
Does the voltage drop when the engine speeds up?
No. Unlike traditional generators where voltage is tied to engine speed, this inverter electronically manages the output. Whether the engine is idling in Eco Mode or screaming at full tilt, your devices receive a constant 120V or 240V.
Will it interfere with my Wi-Fi signal or cell reception?
No. The MXR6000GT is engineered to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring your routers and cell boosters stay connected without signal degradation.
How does the "Turbocharged" Inverter Technology work?
It refers to the high-efficiency digital controller that "boosts" engine response to load changes. This allows a smaller, lighter engine to provide the same punch as a much heavier traditional unit.
Can I check my fuel level from my phone?
Yes. The Bluetooth app provides a digital readout of operating data, allowing you to monitor the state of the generator without walking outside.
How loud is the MXR6000GT?
At around 60 dB, it is far easier to live with than the harsher sound profile of open-frame generators.
How long will it run on one tank?
Up to 9.5 hours at 25% load and up to 6.7 hours at 50% load.
What happens if I overload it?
The overload alert will activate and the unit will cut power to protect itself and your gear. Simply reduce the load and reset.
