Why people choose this generator

Lightest in its Power Class: At just 86 lb, the MXR6250IE is among the lightest 5000W+ inverter generators available in the United States. It packs wheeled portability and an extendable handle into a form factor you can actually move yourself — a genuine advantage over 200+ lb competitors in the same wattage range.
120V and 240V From One Machine: A dedicated 120V/240V dual-voltage outlet means you can run 240V appliances — well pumps, transfer switches, RV 50A setups, and tools — directly without an adapter. Few inverter generators in this price range offer that.
Safe for Sensitive Electronics: Pure sine wave output with less than 3% THD delivers the clean power laptops, CPAP machines, Starlink routers, and televisions require. You’re not risking your equipment the way you would with a conventional generator.

Who this generator is built for

Home & Rural Backup
Refrigerator, freezer, well pump, sump pump, lights, and internet during outages — 5000 running watts handles the essentials without having to pick and choose.
Sensitive Electronics
Laptops, Starlink, routers, TVs, and CPAP machines that need clean inverter power safe for delicate circuits. Under 3% THD means your equipment stays protected.
RV & Camping
Compatible with 30A RV connections via the L5-30R outlet. At 68 dB and 86 lb, it’s quiet enough for campground use and light enough to load without a second set of hands.
Job Site & Farm Power
5000 running watts handles circular saws, compressors, grinders, drills, barn lighting, and water pumps. 240V output covers transfer switch connections and higher-voltage tools.

Good to know before you buy

What can a 5000 watt inverter generator run

A 5000 running watt inverter generator like the MXR6250IE can handle most home backup scenarios simultaneously: refrigerator, freezer, sump pump, window AC unit, lights, internet, and a few devices at once. On a job site, it runs multiple power tools in rotation. For RV use, it comfortably supports a 30A RV connection with AC, microwave, and other systems running.

Not sure if it covers your exact setup? Call 314-833-8000 and we’ll walk through your load before you buy.
What the 120V/240V dual voltage outlet means for you

The MXR6250IE includes a dedicated 120V/240V dual-voltage outlet that can directly power 240V appliances — including transfer switches, well pumps, and some RV 50A hookups (with appropriate adapter). This is not just a 120V generator. That outlet expands what this machine can do significantly compared to 120V-only inverter generators at similar price points.

What the CO auto-shutdown does

The MXR6250IE includes a built-in CO sensor. If carbon monoxide accumulates to dangerous levels near the generator, it automatically shuts the engine off. This is a meaningful safety feature — but it does not replace running the generator outdoors and away from windows, doors, and vents. Always use outside in well-ventilated areas, never in a garage or enclosed space.

Runtime explained

Up to 9.5 hours at 25% load is closer to lighter essential use — refrigerator, lights, router, chargers, and selective electronics running in Eco mode.

Fuel consumption increases significantly at higher loads. Running multiple high-draw appliances simultaneously will reduce runtime well below the rated estimate. Always size your actual load, not just the generator's peak rating.

What the MXR6250IE can run

5000 running watts / 5500 peak watts. Startup watts draw higher current for 1–2 seconds when a motor starts. Plan around running watts for sustained use.

Let’s talk about MXR +
The MXR Story

MXR is produced by MaXpeedingrods, an engineering company founded in 2006 that builds performance and power equipment for real-world use. Operating under IATF 16949 quality management systems — the same standard used by automotive manufacturers — MaXpeedingrods has served over 4 million customers worldwide.

The MXR6250IE was engineered to achieve a 25% weight reduction over the previous generation by using a copper-wound stator instead of aluminum. The result is a generator delivering 5000 running watts at just 86 lb — the lightest in its US power class at release. Copper windings mean lower resistance, better heat efficiency, and longer motor life.

The 120V/240V dual-voltage outlet is a significant differentiator at this price point — allowing direct connection to well pumps, transfer switches, and 240V tools without an additional adapter. Parallel capability lets two units link for up to 10,000W of combined output.

MXR generators carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty with free lifetime technical support. Durvy Supply provides direct support from Union, Missouri. Call or email us any time before or after your purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Output & Power

What is the difference between 5500 peak watts and 5000 running watts?
Peak watts (5500W) is the maximum surge the generator can handle for 1–2 seconds — typically when a motor starts. Running watts (5000W) is what it can sustain continuously. Plan your total load around running watts, not peak.
Does the MXR6250IE produce 240V power?
Yes. It includes a dedicated 120V/240V 20A dual-voltage outlet in addition to the 120V outlets. This allows you to run 240V appliances — well pumps, some transfer switches, and 240V tools — directly from the generator.
Is this generator safe for sensitive electronics?
Yes. The MXR6250IE produces pure sine wave output with less than 3% THD — the same quality of power you get from your home utility. Laptops, CPAP machines, Starlink, televisions, and routers are all safe to connect.
What outlets does the MXR6250IE have?
The control panel includes 2x 120V 20A outlets, 1x 120V 30A locking outlet (L5-30R), 1x 120V/240V 20A dual-voltage outlet, and 2x USB ports. The L5-30R is the standard 30A RV connection.
Can I run a well pump on this generator?
It depends on the well pump size. A 1/2 HP well pump typically requires about 1000 running watts and 2000 startup watts — well within the MXR6250IE’s capacity. For pumps requiring 240V, use the dual-voltage outlet. If you’re unsure about your pump, call 314-833-8000 and we’ll help you verify compatibility.

RV Use

Is the MXR6250IE RV ready?
Yes. The L5-30R outlet is the standard 30A RV connection. For 50A RV setups, you can use the 120V/240V outlet with an appropriate adapter. If you have a specific RV configuration you want to verify first, call us at 314-833-8000.
Will it run an RV air conditioner?
Yes, in most cases. A 13,500 BTU RV AC draws about 1500 running watts and up to 3000 startup watts. A 15,000 BTU unit draws roughly 1800 running and 3500 startup watts. The MXR6250IE’s 5500W peak and 5000W running capacity handles either, with room left for other appliances. Actual performance depends on temperature and unit age.
How loud is it for campground use?
The MXR6250IE operates at 68 dB(A). Many campgrounds have quiet hour policies around 60–65 dB, so check your specific campground’s rules. The Eco mode reduces engine speed and noise when the load is light. For campgrounds with strict noise limits, a smaller inverter generator may be better suited.

Setup & Operation

Does the generator come with oil?
No. The MXR6250IE ships without engine oil. Before the first start, add at least 700ml (0.18 gal) of SAE 10W-30 oil on a level surface. Running it without oil will cause engine damage not covered under warranty.
What fuel does it take?
Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol. For storage, run the fuel system dry or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent carburetor issues.
What is Eco mode and when should I use it?
Eco mode adjusts engine speed to match the actual load rather than running at full speed continuously. Use it when you’re running lighter loads — it reduces fuel consumption, extends runtime, and lowers noise. Turn it off when you need to start high-draw appliances like AC units or pumps.
Can two MXR6250IE units run in parallel?
Yes. Two MXR6250IE units can be connected in parallel to effectively double the output. A parallel kit is required (not included). This can be useful if you need more than 5000W of sustained power without stepping up to a larger generator.

Safety & Compliance

What does the CO auto-shutdown do?
The built-in CO sensor monitors carbon monoxide levels near the generator. If it detects unsafe levels, the generator automatically shuts off. This is a safety feature, not a substitute for always running the generator outdoors in well-ventilated areas away from windows, doors, and vents.
Is this generator EPA compliant?
Yes. The MXR6250IE-US is EPA compliant and can be sold and operated in all 49 states. It is not CARB compliant and is not available for sale in California.
Does it have low-oil protection?
Yes. The MXR6250IE includes low oil auto-shutdown. If the oil level drops below a safe threshold, the generator will automatically shut off to prevent engine damage. Always check oil before each use.

Purchasing & Support

Does this include free shipping?
Yes. Durvy Supply ships the MXR6250IE free. Orders typically ship within 1 business day and arrive within 1–5 business days depending on destination.
What is the return policy?
We offer a 30-day return window for a full refund. Returns are free by mail. If you have an issue with your order, call 314-833-8000 or email sales@durvy.com and we’ll make it right.
What does the warranty cover?
MaXpeedingrods provides a 2-year warranty against defects in workmanship under normal residential use, plus free lifetime technical support. The warranty does not cover damage from improper use, lack of maintenance, or running without oil. Call us if you have a warranty question and we’ll walk you through the process.
I have a question not answered here. Who do I call?
Call Josh directly at 314-833-8000 or email sales@durvy.com. We’re a small operation in Union, Missouri — you’re talking to someone who knows the product and actually wants to help you get the right generator.
